Q24. 5 marks
A hemispherical bowl made of brass has inner diameter 10.5 cm. Find the cost of tin-plating its inner surface at ₹16 per 100 cm².
Q25. 5 marks
A shot-putt is a metallic sphere of radius 4.9 cm. If the density of metal is 7.8 g/cm³, find the mass of the shot-putt. (Use π = 22/7)
Solution:
Radius r = 4.9 cm
Volume of sphere:
V = (4/3)πr³ = (4/3) × (22/7) × (4.9)³
= (4/3) × (22/7) × 117.649 = (4 × 22 × 117.649)/(3 × 7)
= 10352.112/21 ≈ 493 cm³
Mass:
Mass = Volume × Density = 493 × 7.8 = 3845.4 g ≈ 3.85 kg
